Hello!

I’m an author, academic researcher and freelance editor.

I write fiction and non-fiction. My novel-in-progress was longlisted in the 2022 Bridport Peggy Chapman-Andrews First Novel Award and an extract published in the anthology. Other recent publications include short stories in Literary Mama, Porridge, The Phare, Aayo, Wensum, Find Me Here (The Anansi Archive Anthology) and the London Independent Story Prize Anthology. I have been longlisted in Globe Soup’s 7 Day Writing Challenge and the Fiction Factory Short Story Competition. I completed my MA in Creative Writing at Anglia Ruskin University in 2021. Since December 2023, I have been an associate editor for Short Fiction. I am also the audio editor for This Mama is Lit! podcast from Literary Mama.

From 2007 to 2016, I completed a PhD in Applied Linguistics at Birkbeck, University of London. My thesis concerned the use of discourse markers in police suspect interviews. During my study, I presented at various conferences, including the British Association of Applied Linguistics in 2015 (BAAL), and have also published book chapters regarding these studies since. Professionally, I have worked as an editor in academic and educational publishing, both in-house and as a freelancer. This included many different subjects, including English Language Teaching, in professional development for teachers and resources for students, as well as many types of publications including, monographs, textbooks, audio and visual resources, website copy and online courses.
